Conference will be held at Philadelphia Marriott West, West Conshohocken, Pennsylvania.
NOTE: If you're traveling from a distance, consider adding a few extra days to your trip. Philadelphia has some of the best art museums in the world, and New York City is an easy 1.5 hour train ride away.

Message from Martha Sielman
We are making changes for the New Year. My column is moving out of the Journal, and I'll be writing a brief note in every e.Bulletin instead.
Other changes:
--We're very excited to announce that we will be putting Journal articles online, as well as in print. This will allow us to bring you even more great information while keeping SAQA's costs low and using fewer trees. Your printed copy of the Winter Journal will be arriving at the end of the month. The bonus articles will be available online shortly.
If you prefer to read the Journal online rather than in print, check off the Online Journal Only choice on your Member profile page.
--Desi Vaughn is now the regional representative coordinator. She's started a reps newsletter and will be part of the team administering the new reps grant program, which has been designed to help our regions fund larger projects, lectures, and exhibitions. If you have an idea for your region, contact your regional rep!
--There's a new PAM Review Committee for 2012: Betsy Fram, Mary McBride, and Arturo Sandoval. If you are considering applying to become a Professional Artist Member, now's the time so that you can be part of Portfolio 19. Application instructions can be found here: http://www.saqa-pamapplications.com/announcements/pam
--We're working on a redesign for the website. The website design committee is chaired by Eileen Doughty and includes Deidre Adams, Margaret Blank, Susan Christensen, Cheryl Ferrin, and Jen Solon. They are working with a Focus Group chaired by Bill Reker and including Paula Brown, Sandra Donabed, Julie Duschak, Holly Knott, Tricia Revest, and Cynthia Wenslow.

SAQA's Annual Appeal

In this year's annual appeal letter, I'm asking you for two things: a statement about why you're passionate about SAQA and a donation. We'd like to hear from you about what SAQA means to you. Your statements will become part of a new design for the website that we're beginning to work on, to help explain to others why this is such a wonderful organization.
Why are we asking for a donation?
Because it takes almost exactly $400,000 to run SAQA's programs each year (not counting conferences). Membership dues cover 41%, the Benefit Auction covers 13%, and book sales, jury fees, exhibit rentals cover another 23%. The rest comes from you, from your generous donations to our annual appeals.
SAQA runs on people power - your power. You volunteer, you create pieces for the Auction, you attend regional events, you write articles for the Journal, you enter your artwork in our exhibits and Portfolios.
And we also need you to donate each year. It doesn't have to be a lot. If everyone sent in just $20, we could raise $60,000 for this appeal. If you are able to give more, then we can start work on some of the new initiatives that we'd like to pursue, such as more support for regional exhibition opportunities, more educational programs, and more outreach to curators and gallery owners.

Meeting will focus on having an appraiser on sight to do appraisals and talk for 1 hour on "Why your Quilt has value" by Certified Appraiser Dawn Hunt
Lunch of homemade pizza's & salads, ice tea, coffee , scones & fruit provided throughout the day by host. Feel free to bring your own lunch & snacks if you have dietary issues.
Afternoon will focus on photography. Members will be encouraged to bring their cameras.
What, how, & why good photography is necessary. How to submit the best possible images for shows,if this interests enough members. Host may invite local Red Deer College Photography Instructor Professor for a hands-on demonstration
